Coordination is purely a matter of practice. With some diligence, anyone can improve. Here are a few coordination exercises you can regularly repeat and internalize (virtually anytime and anywhere). Ideally, let the beat guide you via a metronome (starting at 60 bpm). In this video, you will see the variations:

• Tap the pulse on the table with one palm while continuously counting “1, 2, 3, 4.” With the other palm, move outward during 1 and 2, and back again during 3 and 4.

• Use the exercise from the previous section with triplets. One hand taps the quarters, the other the eighth-note triplets. In a second step, the hand with the triplets taps only a selection of the three: just the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd triplet—or the 1st and 3rd, the 2nd and 3rd, or the 1st and 2nd triplet.
